Sunday, October 21: Boulder City, NV to Kingman, AZ
First full day. Pretty full day it turned out to be, too! Woke up at 5:20am. Not even sunrise yet. Sheesh. But it’s okay, it’s okay, it’s really 8:20 Michigan time, we conked out last night at 9:30, which is really 12:30 Michigan time, so, actually, I did get just under 8 hours of sleep. That’s good! So, now, what do I do at 5:20 a.m.? Well, as it turns out, if you’re in Nevada, at a casino hotel, anything you want to.* Go down to the lobby of the hotel and there’s no way you can tell anyway what time of day or night it is. It’s always permanently twilight with that weirdly backlit evening sky painted on the high ceiling overhead, and the bright neon flashing of the slot machine lights in the dimness below. The space is huge; it kind of reminds me of an indoor mall, and is set up to look like a street in the desert that happens to be lined with restaurants, and bars, and casinos, casinos, casinos. At least 3 separately owned ones, right...
